Broken "fender extender" mounting
I'm pleased to report that these pictures don't relate to my Beta Alp 4.0 but serve as a warning to all.
This machine is reportedly a 2003 model but my late 2003 Alp has an additional steel frame welded in place; presumably as a strengthener. As the rear mounting point of the official rack attaches to this steel piece it would be wise to limit how much weight is put on it.
In this instance the owner gas welded the parts back together.

Hi Adrian, I'm afraid my welding skills aren't as good as I thought they were. The bracket snapped again just two miles into my next green lane trip - unfortunately smashing the indicators, number plate, number plate light and the rear mudguard to smithereens as they hit the rear wheel.
I have had to botch a repair with a bolt on replacement from a different bike for now.
